Divine preparations for soft landings.

On the ride back from a meeting, the word “PARACHUTE” in all caps caught my eye as I passed a building. Immediately, thoughts of past leaps, failures, fears, and feats came to mind. I sensed the Holy Spirit highlighting the difference between then and now. As we lunge forward into what’s next in this season, remember that God is our parachute. As we heed to the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit, we’re guaranteed a safe and soft landing.

MEANINGS FOR GLEANING

Oxford Languages Dictionary notes that a parachute is “a cloth canopy which fills with air and allows a heavy person or object attached to it to descend slowly…”. Cambridge Dictionary shares that a parachute is a “piece if equipment made of a large piece of special cloth that is fastened to a person or thing that is dropped from an aircraft in order to make him, her, or it fall slowly and safely to the ground”.

Wherever were called to go, conveyance awaits. Whatever we’re called to do, be, or carry in this season has been secured to us for our leaps forward. Though the resource made to uphold us may seem small in size, rest assured that it holds the capacity to expand in order to support heavy weight.

What’s special about this analogy is, an aircraft is a high end form of transportation, equipped to get multiple passengers from one destination to another speedily. When a “planned jump” is the mission, the plane arrives in the vicinity of an intended location. In some cases, an unforeseen emergency may require an unplanned jump to get passengers to help and safety. In the interim location, another other means of transportation meets those passengers to bring them to their intended destination. In both instances, the risk and process is the same. Regardless of the reason for the jump, a safe landing is ensured because of what is attached to them.

BIG LEAPS TO SAFE LANDINGS

The story of Abraham and Lot’s journey came to mind. Esther’s story did as well. God may give us an instruction, plan or roadmap. A peculiar opportunity may come knocking at any moment . If our steps are ordered by the LORD, they will lead us to purpose, safety and destiny. Romans 8:28 says,And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Again I say, God is our parachute. God’s word is attached to us and God’s Spirit dwells within us. When taking a leap of faith in life, seek God and trust his guidance alone to reach an intended goal or location. God is able to do what seems humanly impossible. Faith is our divine insurance policy. Whether our faith as small as a “mustard seed” or as big as believing a word with no evidence in sight, we can have whatever we ask and believe we’ll receive in Jesus’ name. May we seek the wisdom and guidance of God for our individual paths to success.

  1. Trust God, seek his wisdom and revelation to take steps forward.
  2. Do not, under any circumstances take actions driven by fear, anxiety, anger or any negative emotion. It’s a set up to set back.
  3. Run your own race. Opportunity will knock at the perfect time and chance.
