There’s nothing back there!

I received a prophetic message about moving forward. An Apostle anointed my head and hands, pronounced blessing and specifically repeated “don’t go back” several times. A few days later, concerns about the when’s and how’s for the new thing started to consume me. For a brief moment, I felt like a nutcase for walking away from everything familiar. Then it dawned on me—there is no “familiar”. That time and season is over.
Romanticizing expired positions, places and spaces to feel better about fears and uncertainties is literally insane. The Holy Spirit reminds us today, “the blessing of the LORD makes rich and he adds no sorrow with it”(Proverbs 10:22). Remember all that came with before. Our souls will remind us of every prayer we’ve ever prayed for deliverance or change. Tell yourself the truth and let go.
TRUTH
The Holy Spirit helped me see that the idea of starting over and not doing what “I knew well” terrified me. Many of us are a season of “somewhere new”— an equidistant yet strange place, but God is with us. While in mini-panic, I observed the mountain of things to do, and the high-key miracles needed to accomplish them. I realized that only God can bring it to pass.
In an effort to shake off overwhelm, I opened YouTube to search for inspiration and encouragement. The exact words the apostle repeated came a second time, through a different source— “don’t go back”. God truly speaks in one voice! It wasn’t random. It was the Holy Spirit’s confirmation and warning.

God ensured crystal clarity of this message to erase any doubts! Weeks later, I bought a new journal. Guess what was written at the top of one of the pages? “Don’t look back”— and almost exactly what I subtitled this message before ever seeing this journal— “there’s nothing there”. Bro or sis— wherever you are, if this message is for you too, please listen to God!
If anyone reading this happens to be looking for a sign for a HARD NO, this is it! If this message is resonating with you, the LORD is speaking to you and anyone glancing backward. It’s time to “behold the new thing”.
“DON’T GO BACK”
I can personally testify of experiencing many unnecessary troubles from ignoring divine instructions. Don’t go back! Who has time to waste overcoming challenges or consequences of another wrong choice — only begin again at the starting line? Think of ignoring that gut instinct like taking one wrong turn that takes you 30 miles away from your exit with LA, ATL & GWB level traffic, on it’s absolute worst day with construction, road closures, detours and a 45 minute garbage truck stall before getting back on the right road. It’s not worth it. There’s nothing back there. Walk forward.
GOD SAID, “LISTEN TO ME…”!
The Holy Spirit led me to Psalm 46 and Isaiah 46 after I was spinning. God shared very specific messages to reassures us of His presence, promises, and power today. I share snippets of the scripture in this post but click the links to read the full passages. Though we may not be able to see the full road ahead, trust God. God sees everything. “Don’t go back”.
The LORD had to flex on me with a delightful reminder of His majesty! To my heart and yours, “be strengthened”. “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”(John 14:1).
Psalm 46 reminds us that God is our oasis, safe place and residence. God is our helper, provider and counselor. Regardless of what is happening outside of us, God is present within us. May the grace of God carry us to the promise. May our minds be renewed and hearts be at peace. May we remember where God brought us from and rest assured that the LORD is not through with us yet!
- Let God carry you. Trust his foresight, wisdom and sovereignty.
- Go get your blessing! Forget the past.
- Pray, listen, and follow God’s guidance. God loves you and will never lead you wrong.
