CAT NAPS & GOOD CAPS!

While getting dressed, I saw our cat napping so peacefully! I thought, aww look at him— not a care in the world! He yielded to his sleepy eyes to rest his body and mind. Milo taught me a lesson through his nap. Rest when you’re tired! It sounds so simple but demands and desires sometimes drive the exact opposite.

YOU CAN’T GIVE WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE
I remembered recently pushing myself harder when external needs presented itself. I pushed through tiredness, pain and even mental exhaustion. I didn’t give myself a moment to rest or recover. I pushed through it without consciously considering myself. I resisted my “sleepy eyes” because of too many non-emergency “cares in the world”. Cares that could actually wait for the energy or attention I needed to give it.
GOOD CAPS
The word “cap” has several meanings. A “cap” is a covering for our heads. A “cap” is something we use on bottles and containers to keep the contents from spilling out or spoiling. A “cap” is also used to describe a limit— when something or someone has reached capacity. The hood definition of “cap” is a lie. In this context, it’s when we lie to ourselves about what we push ourselves to do against common sense. We can employ good “caps”by listening to our bodies and minds when they signal us to take a break —because we’ve reached our capacity for the day, hour, minute or second!
DIVINE REMINDERS
Yesterday, I saw a timely prophetic word about rest and self care on YouTube. It was a message for those of us that may be subconsciously “running ourselves ragged”. Those of us leaving ourselves last as we care for everyone else. The LORD sent an “urgent” reminder through a sister in Christ for his children to recharge.
SWEET DREAMS
Wishing you fulfilling “cat naps” whenever needed, strength, energy and beautiful dreams! May the LORD refresh you! In Jesus name, Amen.

- Listen to your body! We only get one— prioritize your health and wellbeing.
- Just because a need presents itself doesn’t mean it’s an emergency! We can make the time to help when it’s reasonable.
- Naps are good. We took them as children and were full of energy afterwards. I think daycare was really on to something!
- “No”. “Not right now”, “maybe later”, and “let me get back to you”, are perfectly reasonable responses to things that demand time and energy!
