“Pull Up—Not Out!

After a long day, I crouched to sit in a recliner. While lowering myself, my eyes caught a message written in red letters, on a wrinkled shopping bag. The bag was in the same place for two weeks, yet, the words went unnoticed. That particular evening, the instructions for bag’s handles appeared prominently. It said, “pull up, not out”.

The bag.
Creative “jeuge” helped for aesthetics. 🙃

WHOA!

I stared at the message intensely. That moment felt like a “tunnel vision” trance in a movie scene. The whole room went into peripheral view as every sound became muffled and silent. As the words began to resonate, I walked towards the bag and snapped a picture. The Holy Spirit answered thoughts and prayers in four, simple words.

“PULL UP—NOT OUT”

The bag’s instructions were a metaphorical “call to action” against fear, shame, and temptations to give up or run. When I sensed to share this message as a “Lesson On The Glow Up”, I understood that I wasn’t alone in that test. If negative energy has tried to bring you down, pull you backwards or quench momentum, the Holy Spirit says, “pull up, not out!

HOOD CHRONICLES

In slang, we use the term “pull up” for several reasons. The phrase basically means to show up or be present. “Pull up” can represent a warm, welcoming invitation to fellowship in good company. “Pull up” can also represent sarcastic provocation—bidding a negative, “energy matching” response to threats or intimidation. “Pull up”’in this case communicates with readiness and strong assurance that the recipient of the challenge is ready for whatever comes— and intends to win the battle.

“PULL UP”, GOD IS FIGHTING THIS BATTLE

If you’ve been seeking the LORD’s help in prayer to face opposition to purpose (mentally, physically, emotionally or spiritually), there’s good news for you today. If fear has tempted you to shrink or hide, it’s time to “pull up, not out”. Accept God’s warm invitation to “pull up” for good fellowship with Him, and watch God “pull up” on the flip side to defeat the enemy on your behalf.

Pull up”, to the specific place, at the appointed time God reveals to you. God heard your prayers and God has already won this battle. Whatever it is you’re facing, God has won it! Remember this is not a carnal fight (2 Corinthians 10:4-6). Remember what Jesus said. “Love and pray for enemies” (Matthew 5:43-48). We wrestle not against flesh and blood”. “Put on the full armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-18).

EQUIPPED TO CARRY

Practical instructions for supernatural results.

The bag’s instructions were simple, yet contextually deep . Practically speaking, pulling the bag handles up ensures the person holding it has proper grip to carry the weight of it’s contents. If the bag’s handles are pulled out, the bag would tear and become unusable.

After realizing what the Holy Spirit was saying, the “churchy” part of me was running on the inside with excitement! Joy bubbled within as I rested in God’s strength. God has already provided the tools and mechanisms we need to carry the weight of what he’s put inside of us. “Pull up, not out”.

LISTEN TO JEHOSEPHAT’S PRAYER

The Holy Spirit reminded me of Jehosephat’s story in 2 Chronicles 20:5-12. Press play to quickly hear what Jehosephat said to God.

Jehosephat honored and sought the LORD for Judah and Jerusalem’s deliverance from the afflictions of their strong enemies. Jehosephat humbly prayed. The LORD answered Jehosephat and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem saying:

SHOW UP & STAND STILL

Jehosephat and people of Judah and Jerusalem did not pursue their enemies in their own strength, knowledge or will. They sought the LORD and leaned on the strength, wisdom and power of God. They released their concerns to God and obeyed His word.

GOD IS THE GREAT DEFENSE

The Holy Spirit led me to several scriptures— namely, Zechariah 4, 2 Chronicles 20, Deuteronomy 31:8, Isaiah 45:2-3, and 2 Timothy 1:6-7.

God is bringing victory in this season! It’s time to “pull up” to where the LORD has called us and to carry what he’s given us. Don’t let the enemy trick you into “pulling out”, shrinking shrinking or hiding. The LORD is saying, “pull up”, there’s no need to fight, “stand still and see the salvation of the LORD”.

  1. Pray, and seek the LORD for help and direction. Honor the LORD for what God has already done in faith. Acknowledge God’s strength wisdom and power to “pull up” on your behalf!
  2. Pull up, not out”. Face whatever God is calling you to this season. God is with you.
  3. Get dressed. Put on the full armor of God.
  4. Stand still. God’s fighting this battle.
