MORE NOSTALGIC LESSONS

The Holy Spirit reminded me of a season of launching ventures and planning events. They we’re exciting moments, full of adrenaline, ambition and passion. In many instances, spontaneity worked in my favor. As thoughts and ideas came to mind, I moved in the direction of the vision. I now understand that it wasn’t just my “bright ideas”. It was the favor and revelation of God supporting plans he graced me to conceive.

There were also times when the season changed from “leaping”, to being still and I was oblivious to that shift. I remember being in a rush to “succeed”, missing vital steps in the preparation and development process. Spiritual awareness dulled as personal time with God was neglected.Though some experiences came with consequence, God’s mercy kept me as God’s grace repaired misalignments. It took time to refine many areas. It took God’s deliverance to walk in patience, receive divine insight, and heed instructions before “jumping off the cliff”.

REGULATING DISAPPOINTMENTS

Sometimes perceived delay felt like denial. Sometimes “no” felt like never. Often, feelings of disappointment can be accompanied by thoughts of rejection or defeat. It’s natural to feel disheartened if our hopes or desires didn’t come when we wanted it. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

If the LORD said it, it will come to pass. “God is not a man that he should lie…”. To know the character of God, God’s love towards us, and his plan is to “prosper and not to harm us” is to know even when we hear “no”, it’s for our benefit!

PRAISE GOD FOR THE “NO” AND THE “NOT RIGHT NOW”!

God is due praise, honor and glory for that “no” because he knows exactly what’s best for us! It may not always be comfortable or fun but it’s temporary. God sees what we cannot see. God knows what we do not know. God’s wisdom is “passed finding out”. God is a loving Father that will not permit us to be destroyed by our wants, ideas or desires.

Sometimes the cave or wilderness is the safest place for us for that time period. King David was in a cave for a season, the children of Israel were in the desert wilderness for a season. God’s word and promises still came to pass in their lives. They still reigned and prospered!

A TRUE BLESSING

God’s timing is perfect, punctual, and sweet. Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” God’s love and protection preserves us from harm and destruction. While there is a season for everything in life, there is no grief like discovering a counterfeit blessing! Wait with faith, patience and trust. Remember there is safety and provision in God.

Before we walk into any new thing or place, God must go before us to make the way! We must “behold and perceive the new thing” God is doing first with thanksgiving. Our obedience and thanksgiving ensures our victory and success.

1. Remind your soul that God’s “thoughts are not our thoughts”, neither are his ways our ways. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

2. Tell thoughts of doubt or defeat that God’s “word will not return void”. (Isaiah 55:11, John 6:63)

3. The LORD can suddenly change things at any moment. (John 5:8-9, Job 42:10, 1 Kings 17:7-16, Luke 8:43-48)

4. We can trust God knowing that if we “delight ourselves in the LORD”, he will give us the desires of our hearts. (Psalm 37:4)

5. Seek first the kingdom of God! The Kingdom of God is within you! (Matthew 6:31-34, Galatians 6:8, Philippians 4:11, Galatians 5:22-23)

6. While God prepares us, He also preparing the place where headed to. (Deuteronomy 31:8, Isaiah 45:2-4)

7. When fearful thoughts tempt say, “God is not a man that He should lie”, “He makes everything beautiful in His time.
