“Divine affirmation for faith and patience.”
As the sun rose, looping lyrics affirmed God’s presence and support. Simultaneously, it identified a state of mind. The morning of August 28th greeted me with consolation from the 80’s. “Time After Time” played in my spirit the moment I opened my eyes. Since this song isn’t on my playlist, I sensed that the Holy Spirit had a specific message.
As the song played inwardly, the Holy Spirit led me to Jeremiah 29:13. It says, “And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.” Next was, “I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you” (John 14:18). After that verse, Deuteronomy 31:6-8 echoed, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” . Love sealed the heavenly proclamation on the table of my heart.
DON’T GIVE UP
I won’t front, I became weary while waiting. Trials and tribulations irked every nerve. Over the last few weeks, the mental and emotional strain, obstacles and distractions were unusually “on one”. Unforeseen contention, challenges, tears and strife seemingly popped up out of nowhere.
Discouragement lingered between moments of increase and blessing. Depression and anxiety visited with force. By the grace of God, negative energies and perspectives were evacuated. This is a testimony because I remember harder times. By the grace of God , the weapons formed but did not prosper. By the Spirit of God we prevail.
FAITH IN FURY
The thoughts and feelings that disturbed my peace invoked anger. The Holy Spirit lead me to the bathroom mirror to speak God’s word and promises to my mind and emotions. I peered into my own eyes and pointed profusely while confessing aloud every scripture and divine affirmation that came to my heart.
With vigor, I spoke every word of God the Holy Spirit brought to remembrance. With fury, I began casting out, renouncing, declaring, decreeing, binding and loosing. Through the true Light, I professed what God promised in Jesus’ name. At the conclusion of my mirror rant, the thoughts and feelings of oppression and depression lifted.
GREATER IS HE
Something changed. After moving in faith in that moment, heavy burdens and worries disappeared. I wasn’t fighting alone. The simple act of obeying the unction to stand up, go to the place I was instructed to go, and speak changed my entire evening. Disruption to inner peace seized.
“4 You are of God little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world”. – 1 John 4:4
The Holy Spirit reminded me that I am not who I once was. The Comforter affirmed that I am not alone. I share this to remind someone else battling a similar struggle that you are not who you once were, and you are not alone either. Jesus is LORD and we are His. There is power in his name. What isn’t from Him cannot not remain.
The Living Word lives in you. I heard within, “the Word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth” (Romans 10:8). “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions” (Psalm 107:20). Speak into the atmosphere. Resist the urge to be silent. Perhaps the attacks of the last few weeks, months or years were merely a test.
A PRAYER
May we be made whole by faith, in Jesus name. May we continue to “rejoice in hope; be patient in tribulation; and continue steadfastly in prayer” (Romans 12:12) . May we “have life more abundantly” (John 10:10). May God’s peace and favor be in us and upon us, in Jesus name, Amen.
